If we had a pound for every time we’ve heard someone say “don’t go there, it’s too dangerous” over the years, we’d be rich by now 😂

Okay, so SA does get a lot of bad rep for being dangerous. Which to an extent is valid, as there are issues with serious crime.

However, this does not and should not cloud your view of South Africa as a whole. We spent 1 month road tripping across SA and we didn’t encounter a single moment that left us feeling scared or uneasy.

As with anywhere you travel to, staying aware of your surroundings is paramount and having good judgement when things start to feel dodgy is key.

Don’t let fear stop you from experiencing the world!! Especially South Africa, because this country is WILD and will absolutely steal your heart 🥹

📍Welcome to…The Sundays River

On the shores of the river there’s a teeny tiny village called Colchester, and that is where you can start your adventure along the stunning Sundays River and reach the Alexandria Dune Field.

This place is such a hidden gem, when we visited there was absolutely no one else around. It felt like our own slice of natural paradise. A totally unexpected adventure, wedged between the river, the ocean and the dunes.

🛶 You can rent a canoe from @sundaysriveradventures in Colchester, and paddle your way towards the River Mouth. That’s where you’ll find the dunes, moor up and head out on foot across the sand.

South Africa is full of incredible nature spots, but this place really stood out to us, as it was SO unique. It ended up being one of our top spots over the whole month we spent there.

Towards the end of our SA trip we had the privilege of spending one night on safari at @lalibelawildlifereserve in the Eastern Cape. It turned into one of the best experiences we’ve ever had.

Lalibela is so incredibly special, and the perfect place to stop for a Safari, if you’re travelling along the Garden Route.

The property has 6 boutique lodges spread out across the reserve. We stayed at Tree Tops lodge and even had Elephants stop by our balcony on arrival 🥹

Not to mention we struck gold, as we tracked down the Cheetah’s on their morning prowl, as well as many babies that had just been born 🐆

Core memories to last a lifetime 🩵

Merzouga (Sahara) - 2 nights

Taghazout - 5 nights

We travelled from Marrakech to Fes, via the Sahara with a rental car. It cost us only £180 for 5 days, the rest of the route we did on the CTM buses that are very affordable and easy to book online the day before.

‼️TOP TIP - Morocco is perfect to visit in February, to avoid the heat of summer but still get some winter sun. You’ll have pleasant weather for exploring (around 15-22°C). Evenings will be cooler, especially in the desert.

This viewpoint is without a doubt one of our favourite spots on the whole island and maybe even Europe. You will find jaw dropping views out across Playa de Famara, the ocean and the surrounding volcanoes. It’s truly a remarkable sight and one you can’t miss on your visit.

Things to know 👇🏼

🌅 The best time to visit is at sunset, you’ll get the perfect glow and it’s great for photos. We suggest arriving an hour before for golden hour.
🚘 You need your own car to reach this spot. It’s very remote and the road turns to dirt track, with huge potholes. We recommend parking at the bottom of the road and walking 10 minutes to the view.
⛰️ Be super careful and don’t get too close to the edge, people have fallen off the cliffs before, it can become a real hazard, especially in high winds.
📍There are two roads leading to the same viewpoint from different angles, the best spot (shown in the video) can be reached by taking the first right and following the signs.
